Sustainability

At Nomad Home, sustainability is not just a buzzword; it's deeply ingrained in our philosophy and practices. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in both our production cycle and our approach to using raw materials.

1. Handcrafted Excellence in Production:

At the heart of our commitment is the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into each and every one of our products. Unlike many others, we prioritize human skill over automated machinery. By minimizing our reliance on electricity-consuming automated processes, we reduce our carbon footprint significantly. This dedication to high craftsmanship not only ensures the production of unique, premium-quality items but also aligns with our sustainability goals.

Furthermore, we take pride in our localized production approach. By striving to complete the entire production cycle within a single location, we minimize transportation-related emissions and foster a sense of community and responsibility. This strategy not only supports the environment but also contributes to the development of local economies.

2. Thoughtful Use of Raw Materials:

Our approach to raw materials is equally mindful and eco-friendly. We've revolutionized the sourcing of materials by predominantly utilizing vintage, high-crafted fabrics. In doing so, we breathe new life into materials that might otherwise go to waste. This not only reduces the demand for new fabric production but also adds a unique and characterful touch to our creations.

For our rugs, we've committed to using only natural fibers like cotton and wool. By eschewing synthetic materials, we contribute to the reduction of non-biodegradable waste in landfills. In our glass-blowing endeavors, we've taken a sustainable stance by upcycling old glasses with natural colors. This not only minimizes the need for new raw materials but also adds an element of history and authenticity to our glass products.

Our shearlings are a prime example of our commitment to upcycling. By utilizing vintage shearlings and repurposing them into new, luxurious products, we make a powerful statement against the unnecessary consumption of new animal hides. Even the outer fabrics are sourced from upcycled materials, further underlining our belief in the abundance of existing resources.

In essence, we firmly believe that the world possesses ample raw materials, and our responsibility lies in utilizing them wisely.
